The life and legacy Dora Leyva graciously left behind…
Our mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, aunt, cousin and mother-in-law Dora Leyva transitioned into heaven on Sunday, February 23, 2025, at 8:00am in Woodburn, Oregon after battling Dementia for nearly 4 years.
Dora leaves behind a son, Jesse (Ria) Leyva of Portland, 5 daughters, Jeanne (Joaquin) Ruiz, Pattie Leyva, Velma (Jaime) Rodriguez of Woodburn, Nora (Louis) Esquivel and Sandy (Cesar) Villareal of Salem, Oregon.
Twelve grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
Born in Odem, Texas and raised in Asherton, Texas. Mom took immense pride in her children and equally her precious grandchildren. Mom worked as a Home-School Consultant for The Woodburn School District for over 22 years, earning accolades and awards year after year for her outstanding work and devotion. Our father the late Jesse Leyva and mom were very involved with the early Catholic Marriage encounter group and mom continued her religious giving as a Eucharistic Minister at St. Lukes Catholic Church for over 10 years. Mom found joy in the simple things in life but her most favorite was heading to the casino…and traveling the country with her immediate family.
Mom is preceded in death by her parents, Sixto and Maria Vargas, husband, the late Jesse Leyva, daughter, Donna LeDoux and four grandchildren: Janette Garza, Jared Rodriguez, Jessika Cavazos and Jeffrey Garza.
The void left by mom's passing will be deeply felt by all who knew her. Her love, generosity, and the impact she made on countless lives throughout the community and her family will never be forgotten.
Though you are gone, the love you gave us, remains.
