Donald L.Campbell passed away peacefully on January 18, 2013 after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. He was 83 years old.Don was born in Villisca, Iowa in 1929 to parents Albert and Ruth Campbell. He lived there until age 17 when he enlisted in the United States Air Force. After basic training he spent two years stationed in Japan. When he returned to Iowa, he met and married Ramona Forsgren of Red Oak Iowa. They were married for 53 years before Ramona passed in 2003. They have two sons Alan Campbell of Essex Iowa, and Dennis Campbell of Oregon City, Or.During dons military career the family traveled to and lived in many places around the U.S. and world.Don was stationed in Homer Alaska, Sacramento, California, North Bend Oregon, Aviano Italy and Offut Air Force Base in Omaha Nebraska where he finally retired in 1973.After the Air Force, Don began working for the Plattsmouth police department where he served as patrolman,sergeant,lieutenant,and finally the chief of police until 1978.Don then began working for First Data Resources as a Visa-MasterCard fraud investigator. He worked in Omaha Nebraska, and then finally in Portland Oregon until his retirement in 1993.In his leisure time Don always kept himself moving and busy,in his life he loved to travel, camping,fishing and hunting. Don also was involved in bowling for many years, until he took up golfing. He was also an avid football and basketball fan. He has many dear friends all over the U.S.Don is survived by his sister Eldora mcClintock of Red Oak Iowa,son Alan and wife Barbara Campbell of Essex Iowa,and grandson Alan Jr.Also son Dennis and wife Lori Campbell of Oregon City, Or. Granddaughter LeeAnn and grandson Nicolas.Dad faced this illness with grace and courage, He met each and every challenge it presented with determination and strength. We are so very thankful to all of his doctors,nurses, and caregivers who helped us have this time together.Visitation will be held at Cornwell Colonial Chapel 309 N. 2nd St. Woodburn Or. on Wednesday January 23,2013 from 1 pm until 5 pmBurial will be held at Willamette National Cemetary on Thursday January 24,2013 at 1pm
