Darwin John Buschert, 71 years old passed peacefully in his home Thursday, October 6, 2022.
Darwin was born in Calgary, Alberta. He attended Hesston College, Hesston KS for three years. He completed his degree in Industrial Arts in Pittsburg, KS. He moved to Salem, OR in 1975 with his new bride, Betty Khuns who gave him a daughter, Jenna, and a son Ryan. Betty preceded him in death. He was reacquainted with his college friend who was also widowed and had two children. They combined their families. He loved family life, and thoroughly enjoyed his grandchildren.
Darwin taught Industrial Arts at Western Mennonite High School until his classes were phased out. As a child he sat in his sandbox and would see the Greyhound buses pass; he dreamed of driving chartered buses. He started driving chartered buses and enjoyed a lengthy career. He was requested by many groups and was loved by the passengers for his quick wit and professionalism. He was able to drive bus his four children's high school choir tours. He was offered an office job in the bussing industry in management and sales and worked from an office. He then moved on to work for Oregon West Excursions where he planned trips and did some escorting of tours. He worked briefly in the tourism industry in Portland before retiring. He loved travelling and was an amazing person to travel with.
Darwin was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty and his son, Ryan. He is survived by his wife, Suzanne, his daughters Jenna, Becky, and Erika, His sister Dolores, Brother Edward, and grandchildren, Jonas, Jimmie, Nolan, Paige, David, Maia, and Phoebe.
A Memorial Service to celebrate Darwin's life will be held at Peoples' Church 4500 Lancaster Drive October 20, 2022, at 2:00p.m.
