Concepcion "Concha" Leyva
Concha, a long-time resident of the Woodburn area passed away on Saturday the 28th of February. She was 77 years young. Concha was born on December 23, 1937 in La Pryor, Texas to Roman & Gabina Leyva. She was raised in Asherton, Texas, and was the youngest of seven children.
Concha enjoyed gardening, bingo, diet coke, watching ESPN, cheering on the Dallas Cowboys and trips to the casino. She enjoyed spending as much time as possible with her family that brought much joy into her life.
Concha is survived by her sister Basilia Ruiz and brother Alberto Leyva; children Dalia and Gilbert Lopez, Dora and Armando Velasco, Maricruz and Pedro Camacho, Adrian and Merrie Martinez, Janie and Dale Fessler and Lisa Martinez; twelve grandchildren and 3 great-granddaughters. She is preceded in death by sisters Genoveva Ortiz and Jesusita Tijerina, brothers Luis Leyva and Jesus Leyva.
Rosary will be held on Tuesday, March 3, at Simon-Cornwell Chapel at 7:00 pm. Funeral mass to be held at St. Luke Catholic Church in Woodburn on March 4, at 11:00 am.
