Obituary

Colleen Mary (Stubenvoll) Brueckner, 85, passed away at home in Wilsonville, OR on Sunday April 14, 2013. She was born on September 9, 1927 in Millburn, NJ to Margaret and John Stubenvoll. Colleen grew up in Millburn and attended Berkeley College. She met Richard F. Brueckner and was married on September 13, 1947. They made their home in Florham Park, NJ and together raised three children. Richard passed unexpectedly in 1975.Colleen was employed for thirty years as an Executive Assistant to the Vice President of Human Resources of Sandoz Pharmaceuticals. She was very active in the community as a member of the Board of the Woman's Club of Morristown, NJ, Secretary of The Suburbanites of NJ, a member of the Florham Park Senior Center, and Historical Society. An avid and accomplished quilter, Colleen was a member of the Garden State Quilters Society and has given dozens of lovely quilts to friends and family. After retirement Colleen continued an active life, moving to Oregon in 1998 to be closer to her daughters. She traveled the world with close friends and family. She served on the board of the Wilsonville Senior Center and coordinated the senior trips. At this time she met Bernie Heavey with whom she shared much happiness in their later years. Colleen was an accomplished bridge player throughout her life. Colleen was an intelligent, kind, and generous woman who was always ready to help those in need. She was instrumental in raising funds for many charity groups. She had a wonderful sense of humor and a contagious laugh. She was well loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.She will be laid to rest in NJ and a memorial service will be held next summer. She is survived by her three children, Richard F. Brueckner of Bedminster, NJ, Barbara Brueckner of Port Hadlock, WA, and Susan Bruckner of Santa Cruz, CA and four grandchildren, Eric, Cameron, Alexandra, and Evan.Please check back - Services are being scheduled for June 2013
