Clarence L. Oberhelman of Woodburn, OR passed away Friday, July 15, 2016 in Salem, Oregon. Born August 11, 1924 near Riley KS to Edward and Louise Oberhelman.
After graduating from Riley High School in 1942, he attended Kansas City Junior College and Ventura Junior College in California. Clarence served in the US Army from 1949 to 1950. Then he traveled to North Carolina, Ohio, California and Oklahoma. He married Ruth M. Mack in Ohio in 1957. Their travels took them to California and Oklahoma. Clarence was employed by McDonnell Douglas as an aerospace machinist for 18 years in California and Oklahoma, retiring in 1984. He and Ruth then moved to Senior Estates in Woodburn, OR.
Ruth preceded him in death in January 1996. He was preceded in death by his parents and his three brothers, Frank, Harry and Lester.
Clarence married Gloria A. Cheatham Jacobson in May 1997. He is survived by his wife, Gloria. Four nephews; Ken Oberhelman, Montgomery, TX, Jim Oberhelman, Newnan, GA, Earl Oberhelman, Oakridge, OR, Jerry Oberhelman, Roseville, CA; step children: Lynda and Steve Jasperson of Sisters, OR, Steve and Jean Jacobson of Johnston, IA. Step grandchildren: Tyler, Jessica, Brady, John, Katie, Brant, Mathew, Christian, Ann, Drew, and six step great grandchildren.
Services by Simon-Cornwell, 390 N. 2nd St, Woodburn, OR on Tuesday, July 19, 2016 with viewing at 11:00 AM, Chapel Services at 1:00 PM. Private Interment will be at Willamette National Cemetery, Portland at a later date.
