Clarence Davis
Baker
April 26, 1935 – May 25, 2026
Clarence Davis Baker, age 91, passed away peacefully on May 25, 2026, in Tigard, Oregon. He was born in Chidester, Arkansas on April 26, 1935, the 14th of 15 children born to Luther Columbus and Daisy Ann Baker. Known to everyone as Dave, he was a wonderful and devoted husband and father who cherished his three children deeply. Dave lived a wonderful, adventurous, and full life defined by his grit, strong work ethic, and love of life.
In his younger years, Dave lived the thrilling life of a true cowboy. He spent his time riding broncs in the rodeo, working closely with the many horses he loved, and even showcasing his authentic cowboy spirit on the silver screen by acting in B- Western movies.
That same dedication and passion carried over into his professional life, where he spent the majority of his working career as a parts manager in the farm machinery business. His deep knowledge, reliability, and hard work earned him the lifelong respect of his colleagues and the agricultural community he proudly served.
After retiring, Dave moved to the desert southwest where he served as a deacon for the Quartzite Southern Baptist Church. He loved spending the last 25 years in Bouse, Arizona, where he thoroughly enjoyed the warm community, beautiful desert landscape, and the peaceful rhythm of retirement life, before returning to Oregon to spend his final year surrounded by loved ones.
Dave found immense joy in his family, whom he held in the highest regard and spent a significant portion of his time with. He is survived by his beloved wife, Shirley Baker, and his three devoted sons: Davey Baker (and wife Linda), Dusty Baker (and wife Melony), and Todd Baker (and wife Yvette). He leaves behind four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and a large circle of dear friends and loved ones who cherish his funny stories and charm. They won’t soon forget his warm greeting, “I’m happy now that you’re here!” and the radiant smile that accompanied it.
Graveside services will be held at Deschutes Memorial Gardens in Bend, Oregon on Friday, May 29, 2026. The family wishes to thank the Summerfield Estates Retirement Community of Tigard, Oregon for their warmth, support, and companionship over the past year.
