Chuck Karl Sr. was born in Warren County, Missouri. After high school in 1942, he enlisted in the Navy Air Command flight school as a cadet. On February 12th, 1944, he received his "Wings" and married Maxine Silvers the same day. He was involved as a Marine pilot in World War II in the south Pacific and subsequently returned to the Korean War for two years. When he left the military, his rank was Captain. After leaving the military, he worked as a manager for Rogers Ice Cream Co. in Portland, OR for 15 years. He later joined Harsh Investment based in Portland and was assigned to manage the Stardust Hotel in Yuma, Arizona. He continued with Harsh Investment and after leaving Yuma, he managed and refurbished the Claremont Hotel in Berkeley, Ca. After this assignment he was assigned to manage a multi-story Medical Dental Building in Seattle, WA. During his life, the family was baptized in the Catholic Church. He wrote the following in 1985: "All my life, my strength has come from my faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and the Catholic Church." He became a Grand Knight (Yuma, AZ) in the "Catholic Knights of Columbus" to serve those in need. His message to all his family and friends was: "The salvation of our world is love with the Peace of Christ in all of us." He requested to be buried next to Maxine in Canyon City, OR. He survived his second wife, Beth Weaver, and his third wife, Jean Kraxberger. Chuck had two children, Charles J. Karl II (spouse Sherry) and Mary Caron Karl (deceased). Also had three Grandchildren from Charles and Sherry, and six great Grandchildren.
