Betty Farr, beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother died as she lived, simply, quietly, and as a blessing to those around her.
Betty Jean Fish was born in Lebanon, Oregon on July 24, 1929 to Eddie and Hazel Fish. She was a loving and kind sister to Bud (Lester) and Dale (Ernest). As a child, Betty moved several times, until settling on the family farm south of Salem. She graduated from Jefferson High School in 1947. She settled in Portland when she married Bill (Charles) Farr on December 5, 1947. They lived on the Farr family acreage helping and supporting Bill's parents until their deaths. They raised two children Earl and Charlene (married to Bruce). They moved from Portland relocating to Woodburn in 1990. Betty has one grandson, Larry and granddaughter Amy (married to Dan). She has two great grandsons Ethan and David.
Betty loved working in her home garden raising a variety of vegetables and beautiful flowers, as well as camping and hiking in various places in Oregon. She especially loved her vacations at the beach. Walking and biking with her husband Bill brought her great joy. One of her greatest thrills was being the TOPS winner the same year as her mother. Betty was a member of Woodburn Christian Church.
Betty's family and friends will always remember her as a simple, sweet, and strong woman who loved and supported them.
The services for Betty will be held on May 7 at 10 am at Simon-Cornwell Colonial Chapel in Woodburn, Oregon . She will be interred with her loving husband at Willamette National Cemetery at a later date.
