Our precious mother, Betty Jane Dobbins, passed away on January 17th, 2021.
Mom married the love of her life, Bill Dobbins, in 1955 and moved to Corvallis, Oregon where Bill started his career as a radio and TV repairman.
Together they raised their two children, Karen and Wayne, spending many hours supporting their activities as they grew up. Mom was very active as a leader in Karen's Campfire Girls group for over 10 years.
Our Mom was a very talented seamstress making many of our clothes as we grew up. She was always ready to make anything whether it be a swimming suit, prom dress or a special request. As we got older Mom began to teach "Stretch and Sew" classes and was so successful that she won a trip to Hawaii for having the most students in a year.
Upon retiring in 1987, they moved to Woodburn to be closer to our dad's parents. Here they pursued their love for collecting American Art Pottery and dad's collection of antique movie projectors and early American movies.
Mom was very active in the Woodburn United Methodist Church and was noted for her dedication and ready smile whenever called upon to lend a helping hand doing what was needed to support her friends at the Church. She was also active in her PEO group and greatly enjoyed the company of the ladies within her group.
She was proceeded in death by our Dad in 2010, her parents, brother Gordon and sister Anita. She is survived by her children Karen Tucker (Jon) and Wayne Dobbins (PJ), 4 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, her brother David (Joyce} and sister Donna (Harvey}.
A celebration of life will be held later this spring. Arrangements by Simon Cornwell Colonial Chapel.
