Benito was born in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico on October 11, 1942 and at the age of 3 was moved with his family to California then onto Oregon. Benito worked as a migrant field worker and in food processing. Benito met Carolina and were later married in 1964. In 1969 Benito lost his eyesight due to medical complications. Benito and Carolina made their home in Woodburn, then Salem, later to return to Woodburn in 1997. Benito and family attended Iglesia Pentecostes de Woodburn until recently moving to the Woodburn Foursquare Church. Benito was committed to his family and church, but most of all, committed to his Lord and Savior. Through his disability, Benito still was involved in his church and in the Full Gospel Business Men's Fellowship for several years. Benito served as an Elder in the Church and proudly served voluntarily as the sound/audio tech for the church, recording church services for many, many years. Benito made this his ministry blessing people all over the United States and Central and South America.
Benito was preceded in death by his parents, Ponciana and Graciano Puente, his sister Georgina Puente, his daughter Eloina Puente and two sons, Gilberto and Arturo Puente and grandson Bennett Puente. He is survived by his wife Carolina, son Rick Puente and wife Velen of Woodburn, Ruben Puente and wife Aracelia of Hubbard, daughter Hermelinda Maldonado and husband Eggie of Woodburn, Santiago Puente and wife Alyssia of Woodburn, Benito Puente Jr. and wife Brandy of Woodburn and Eleazar Puente and wife Andrea of Silverton. Benito was blessed with 12 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Benito's last counsel to all is "Walk close to God and never walk away".
A Funeral Service will be held December 22 at 11am at Woodburn Foursquare Church with a reception to follow. Arrangements are in the care of Simon Cornwell Colonial Chapel.
