Auda Frances Bonacker was born in Boring, OR to Clark and Estella Rich. She was extremely athletic, on a woman's softball team during World War II. Her children remember her doing the splits at 50 years of age. During World War II, she also worked in a shipyard painting Liberty ships in Portland. She later taught gym at the Salem Deaf School, and became a physician's assistant and office manager for a doctor in Eugene for 30 years.
She was the beloved wife of Beryl A. Bonacker and is succeeded by three children, 10 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She also provided love and attention to several foster grandchildren. One of her greatest assets was the ability to look at life realistically and retain a sense of humor. She will be greatly missed and the lessons she taught her family strengthen them to this day. She truly embodied the concept of "The Greatest Generation."
