Alvin Olaf "Bud" BensonMarch 23,1931 - June 5, 2014Bud Benson of Woodburn died Thursday June 5, 2014 at home.Bud was born in Riverside, California to William and Thelma Benson. He attended McMinnville High School and served in the Army as a chef during the Korean War. In 1972, he married the love of his life, Danita Powell, who had six children - they enjoyed 42 years together. They moved to Woodburn in 1978 and from there, owned and operated a trucking business then continued using his mechanical skills as a mechanic for Tim's Diesel in Hubbard. He worked hard to make a good life for his wife and her kids, whom he considered and loved as his own.Bud was preceded in death by his parents and two siblings. Bud will be missed and forever loved by his wife Danita, children Danny (Sharon) Powell, Jonny (Lou Ann) Powell, Chris Powell, Teresa (Rod) Waring, Gail (John) Knickerbocker, and Marc (Pam) Powell, 21 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren, sister Thelma (Charles) Mullett and brother Dick (Willeta) Benson and many nieces and nephews.No service will be held. Interment is at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland on Wednesday, June 11, 12:30 pm. An open house celebration of Bud's life will take place at The Benson home on Saturday June 28, 2:00 - 5:00 pm.
