It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden and unexpected passing of Tom Konold. Tom passed away at his home in Woodburn, OR on September 8, 2024 at the age of 81. Tom was born to William and Mary (Vehar) Konold on September 30, 1942 in Laramie, Wyoming.
In 1955, the family moved to Everett, Washington and, in 1960, to Mt. Angel, Oregon.
In 1964, Tom met Margaret Eder. They were married in 1966. At the time of his passing, they were married 58 years, minus one day. They had two children, Daniel and Sara.
Tom became a sprinkler fitter before he married and continued until his retirement. He enjoyed his work and his fellow employees of Local Union 669.
Some would say car racing was in Tom's blood. Together, he and his brother Bill, built and raced 3 open-wheel race cars. It became a family and friends' event. His kids loved weekends at the track.
Tom is survived by his wife, Margaret, son, Daniel (Megan), daughter, Sara Alexander (Blake), brother, William, (Bill), his beloved grandsons Tyler and Tanner Konold, and his nephew Russell Konold.
A Celebration of Life is planned for Sunday, October 13th from Noon to 3:00pm at the Wooden Shoe Tulip Farm, 33814 S. Meridian Rd., Woodburn, OR. Arrangements by Simon-Cornwell Colonial Chapel.
