Alfred Anthony Hunt was born in Stickney, South Dakota and moved to Oregon when he was 8 years old. He attended St. Benedict's Grade School and Woodburn High School. He married Gloria Koffler on June 23, 1951 and had a wonderful marriage for almost 64 years. Alfred was a dedicated father to his five children, their spouses and grandchildren.
He was drafted into the U.S. Army at 18, then went to Japan and worked in the Military Police during World War II. After serving his country, Alfred went to automobile mechanic's school and worked in Hershberger's Garage in Woodburn. He then worked for the Woodburn Post Office as a mail carrier and postal clerk for 29 years.
He enjoyed the outdoors, camping, fishing, gardening and spending time with his family. Alfred was a member of St. Luke's Catholic Church where he was an usher for many years.
Alfred is survived by his wife, Gloria; children Dennis (Carol Ann), Debbie (Robert), Karen, Cherlyn (Joe) and Daryl (Sharryl); seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Alfred was a source of encouragement to all.
Rosary Thurs. April 30, 2015 at 7:00 PM at Simon-Cornwell Colonial Chapel- Woodburn. Funeral Mass Fri. May 1, 2015 at 11:00 AM at St. Luke Catholic Church- Woodburn. Interment to follow at St. Luke Catholic Cemetery.
