CLARA JEAN McCARTHYClara Jean McCarthy passed away on Wednesday, February 13 at her home in Wilsonville.She is survived by her husband, Milton McCarthy, her daughter Pamela and her brother, Louis Reymanandt. She is preceded in death by her parents, Louis (Rem) and LaVern Reymanandt,her sister Janet and her son Paul.Clara was born in San Mateo, California on April 10, 1948 and was raised in San Bruno, Ca.She attended Rollingwood Elementary School, Parkside Jr. H.S. and graduated from Crestmore High School in San Bruno - class of 1966!In 1968 she married her childhood sweetheart - the year after Milton returned from Viet Nam.Because of Milton's Faithful and Honorable Military Service in The United States Marine Corps- Clara will be privately interned at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland.They had two children, a son Paul and a daughter Pamela. Clara loved her children deeply and during their formative years was a full-time stay at home mom. She was a talented seamstress and enjoyed sewing Pamela's dresses for all occasions. At their home in Jacksonville, Oregon, she planted, harvested and preserved fresh fruit and vegetables from her large garden. She was a good cook and an excellent baker - known for her yummy pies and cakes. In addition to her vegetable and flower garden, Clara raised goats, Horses and dogs. After Paul and Pamela completed High School, she returned to college in 1995. She was awarded a Bachelor of Science in Communication and the following year a Bachelor of Science in Art. Pottery and Glazes became one of her passions. ""Clara's Cloud"" is a beautiful, multicolored glaze that Clara created as a student at Southern Oregon State College. As an accomplished potter, she specializes in sculptured-Whimsical clay statues using multicolored glazes to bring her creations to life. She truly loved the creative process and working with clay.Clara moved to Wilsonville to live with her son, Paul, 10 years ago. For a brief time she raised miniature horse and really enjoyed caring for them. Her love for gardening is show cased at the Wilsonville home with a variety of spring, summer and fall flowers. She really did have a green thumb! the last few years of Clara's life - she continued to experience the joy and excitement of c5reating beautiful pottery items - and everyday she would be found caring for her garden - but the greatest joy her had, was spending time with her daughter Pamela - and of course, and her very big, big puppy Lady Ruby.
